House training, housebreaking, or potty training… whatever you want to call it… every dog needs this lesson!

This program consists of a single lesson, approximately 90 to 120 minutes of owner instruction, laying out a program that I have successfully used for 16 years. We will arrange a meeting time, and I will lay out a plan that works. I will go over exactly what you should be doing in the home, and how to get your dog to reliably potty when and where you want it to. All we need to do is arrange an appointment time. My prices are listed below.

House training is the one lesson where the trainer must train the owners instead of the dog. You could not afford for me to move into your house to potty train your dog. You’ll be the one that is there at 9 am on a Thursday, or 2 pm on a Sunday, or 2 am on a Monday… not me. So, you MUST be educated regarding what needs to be done. You CAN’T ship a dog away for it to be house trained by a trainer. No trainer can make a living house training dogs. The dog would have to live with them, just like in you, in their home, doing the daily things necessary. What trainer could do that and still make a living doing obedience, behavior modification, and such? They can’t. Any trainer that is offering to do it for you is just going to keep your dog in a kennel, take it out to potty, then put it back in the kennel… over and over again. That doesn’t get the dog to be clean in your home. And it is very stressful to keep a dog in a kennel for days or weeks on end.

Proper house training isn’t for the lazy dog owner. YOU are part of the reason why your dog isn’t being clean in your home. I have to train YOU to have good habits and to read your dog before you can expect your dog to have good habits. There are no shortcuts. Will your dog be house trained immediately after this lesson? No, of course not. You will be trained, and then you will work with your dog so your dog is trained. And follow up is free, so if you need assistance, I’m going to make you top priority to make sure you are successful.

One of the most important lessons a dog owner needs to learn is how to properly house train/ housebreak/ potty train their dog. If done improperly, it can initiate a host of other behavioral problems later, such as bonding and dominance problems, problems with confidence, running away, and difficulties in training obedience commands. Just consider this. House training is the very first thing we teach a dog. It sets the stage for the entire relationship. The pup knows nothing. If you start yelling, chasing, startling, spanking and scolding the puppy for something it doesn’t understand, it will harm the puppy. Pups are very impressionable. A very small mistake on your part will make a very big, lasting, sometimes permanent impression on your puppy.

My House training program, if implemented rigorously, will potty train your dog, unless your dog has a temperament or health problem that interferes with your dog’s natural desires to be clean in his own home. It is kind to the pup, it is behaviorally sound, and it works. I recently boarded a customer’s 12 week old puppy for a week at my home. I did this as a favor to them. I don’t normally board dogs, but the pup was too young to be placed in a boarding kennel, and I wanted to make sure that the pup properly continued its socialization program. The pup didn’t even have ONE accident while under my care. If I can do that with a 12 week old pup, while at the same time taking care of my dog and all my customers, you should be able to do that with your puppy or dog. There is no excuse for not having a housetrained dog.

This program will work on dogs of any age and of any breed. This program will work for any owner and for any situation. But, you must follow my program Rules religiously, or you will have flaws in your handling of the situation and your dog will continue to potty indoors. I sometimes have people who hire me to teach them what to do, but then don’t do it. And of course the dog keeps pottying in the house. But, the customers that DO follow the program always stop the pottying in the house. That’s why I have to teach YOU what to do, but then YOU have to do your part.
