How can you tell if a dog is protective or vicious?
When a dog is showing aggression, it takes a professional to evaluate the nature of the dog. This isn’t something that you will be capable of determining on your own by searching the internet.
However, I can give you a general idea of what needs to be determined:
1.) Is the dog medically well?
2.) Is the dog under some kind of unnatural stress that the dog is having difficulty coping with?
3.) Is the dog showing aggression in appropriate situations, but not in inappropriate situations?
4.) Is the dog being put in unfair situations where it feels it must defend itself or others?
5.) What kind of training, especially protection training, has the dog received?
6.) Is the aggression truly unpredictable to a professional dog expert?
There is no way for you to answer these things on your own.
