Do you lash out at your dog, with verbal or physical attacks?

Lashing out isn’t a dog training method. It is a result of a lack of rational, emotional control on the part of a dog owner. There is no dog training book, video or class that teaches dog owners methods to verbally or physically attack their dogs.

If you don’t like how your dog is behaving, then why don’t you train the dog? Or, if you are lashing out at the dog to get back at someone else, why don’t you resolve those relationship problems or end the relationship with them?

Attacking a dog is considered animal abuse. In some cases, it can be a felony, resulting in imprisonment.

You need to get a handle on this now. Either take the proper steps, or find the dog a new home by contacting a reputable no-kill shelter or rescue organization. If you have substance abuse problems, then you know where that ultimately leads: you in the hospital, others in the hospital, the dog in the hospital, and ultimately with you in jail.

A dog is not much more than a small child. They can’t handle your emotional outbursts, and none of your abuse will make them a better dog. It will only make the problems worse for you and the dog.

Find a counselor. Talk to clergy. Get the dog into a better home. Straighten out your life. It isn’t about the dog. It’s about whatever is boiling inside of you.
