I am a premier dog trainer and behaviorist for Carefree, AZ. Carefree is in my normal training area, though I have to charge more for the time and distance. At the time I wrote this article, I was training a Bullterrier. I have also done a number of evaluations, trained a couple of Goldendoodles, and so forth. It really is too far out for most Carefree residents to drive into town and do lessons, so it’s better for me to come to them. I know that some opt for “board and train” types of lessons because of the location, but, as I have warned before, such programs can be detrimental to your dog (you don’t even know if they are being nice to your dog), and YOU aren’t being trained along the way. Just call me and let’s work out a program that fits your situation. I remember one evaluation I did of a German Shepherd pup in Carefree. The reason they were having so many issues with this pup (about 7 months old) was that they hadn’t done any training at all, they weren’t properly supervising so things were getting destroyed around the home, and there was no planned exercise program for the dog (which seemed so out of place considering the owner was a retired cardiologist). They kept talking about how easy their previous dog had been, not remembering that an old dog isn’t the same as a curious young pup. I advised them that unless they fixed these issues, their dog would become more and more miserable to live with.
