What If You Are Handicapped? If you have a handicap, then I’m going to go out of my way to accommodate you and help you to get your dog trained. I have worked with a number of people with different handicaps. For example, I have worked with a number of people that were in wheelchairs. One was a former military veteran and his Doberman. The other was a school teacher and her Chihuahua. I didn’t need to charge extra and I gave them both extra lessons so that their dogs got trained properly. So, I’m very flexible and understanding and will go out of my way to make things work for you and your dog.
What If You Are Too Busy? The husband was a top executive for Microsoft (and worked very long hours), the wife had an in-home business, they had a couple of kids, a couple of dogs, a nanny, a house manager, a couple of homes: you get the idea, they were very busy people. It was impossible for them to do all the daily homework. In another instance, a customer just wasn’t doing the homework. In that case, I will charge for the extra lessons to get your dog trained. I need to give some students a strong reason to stick with the lessons, because if I don’t, they will quit and their dog won’t get trained. I have worked with many people over the years, and I find that those who get and stay motivated all the way through get the best results out of the training. I do charge extra for the extra lessons if I have to do all the homework and training. I had one customer that needed to go through 3 rounds of the 18-lesson sessions to get their dog trained, and I charged them for 54 lessons since it was impossible for them to do the homework. The dog turned out very well, but it just took a lot longer. The homework really matters, but if you can’t do it, then I am happy to do it for you, but I will have to charge you for the extra time.
