What do you do if your dog has swallowed something?
EMERGENCY: IF YOUR DOG HAS SWALLOWED SOMETHING, YOU HAVE A MEDICAL EMERGENCY!! GET OFF THE COMPUTER AND GET TO THE EMERGENCY VETERINARIAN IMMEDIATELY. YOUR DOG IS IN A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION!!
I know of a Miniature Schnauzer that swallowed a penny late one night. They took the dog to the emergency veterinarian, who tried to make the dog throw the penny up. They did this because just one penny can poison a dog because of the zinc in the penny. In addition, a coin can cause a fatal blockage of the intestine, killing off the internal organs, with your dog dying a very cruel and painful death. In this case, their dog didn’t throw up the penny. So, the veterinarians had to call in a specialist who made a small incision in the dog’s abdomen, and surgically removed the penny. If they hadn’t gone to the emergency veterinarian, the dog could have been dead the next day. This is also why I believe in pet insurance.
Once the object is removed from your dog, then you should hire a professional dog trainer. You need to be instructed on how to prevent this from happening again, to teach your dog to leave such things alone, and how to teach your dog to spit stuff out of its mouth on command instead of swallowing it.
OK, YOU’VE READ ENOUGH. GET TO THE VETERINARIAN NOW!!!
